This contemporary ofrenda encourages us to remember our own mortality by acknowledging how death is the great equalizer--something shared by all-- no matter our socioeconomic background, race, ethnicity or placement in society.

The installation was created for “El Milagro” (the miracle) exhibition addressing the miraculous, religious, and mystical in Latin America. The stylish and practical home entertainment center covered in gold birth control pills and pregnancy tests, is stenciled with uterus graphics. The convenient cabinets provide natural cures for conception or anti-conception. Perfect for all indecisive women whose clock is ticking regarding to birth or not to birth. La Virgen video is experiencing the immaculate conception with music by Vivaldi, "Stabat Mater dolorosa"- a 13th Century Catholic sorrowful hymm to suffering Mary as she loses her son, Jesus Christ. Confessional on side provides recorded confessions sharing women’s stories struggling with childbirth, miscarriages, infertility, and fertility.

Psychologyis the scientific study of the human mind and its functions focused on understanding human behavior. This is a site specific design based on the six areas of study in the Augsburg Psychology department.
The six woodblock prints represent universal concepts in psychology with an emphasis on those areas within Augsburg: clinical/counseling, social, biopsychology, developmental, cognitive, law and forensic. The imagery: the fingerprints (individuality and forensics) with the cityscape (society). Baby (development) with water; Brain (psyche and neuropsychology) and the river (a symbol of life); Skull (mortality and personal transformation) with tree (sustenance and rebirth). Heart (counseling and understanding) with clouds (higher thought / intelligence). The eye (perspectives and eye tracking research) with mountains (overcoming obstacles).
Tell and Retell
The exhibit “Tell and Retell: Contar y Recontar are woodblock and screenprints based on Latin American legends. Graffiti drawings are directly applied to the prints and wall.
